Call handling

Decide what happens when someone calls your number: forward it, let it ring, send it to voicemail, and text back when it is missed.

On this page

Under Calls you decide what happens when someone calls a number dedicated to your account. Call handling is not available on shared numbers.

What you can do with a call

For each rule you choose an action:

  • Forward to my number: the call rings your own phone.
  • Ring for them, silent here: the caller hears ringing; nobody picks up, and the call is logged as missed (so a flow can text back).
  • Send to voicemail: the call goes to the carrier's voicemail for that number. The voicemail greeting is your carrier's; record it by calling voicemail from the number's own phone.
  • Nothing is texted or Text back when a call isn't answered: whether a missed call starts your missed-call flow. See Text back when you miss a call.

Rules

Click Add a rule to treat some callers differently, for example forward known customers and send everyone else to voicemail. A rule can apply to specific numbers and to certain hours; set the time zone for rule hours so "9 to 5" means your 9 to 5. Everyone else is the action for callers no rule matches.

When the phone is off, busy or declined

You can also set what callers get when not answered, when declined or busy and when the phone is off. These follow the carrier's forwarding settings, which differ between carriers; the page shows the options for yours.

Call log

Every call to the number is listed under Calls with its outcome (answered, missed, declined, and so on). If a missed call started a flow, the conversation is in Messages.
