Group texting

How a group works, creating one, adding and removing members, and requesting a dedicated number.

On this page

A group lets several people text each other through one number. A text sent to the group's number reaches everyone in the group, and replies go back out to the whole group.

How a group works

Every group has its own dedicated number. When a member texts that number, the message is forwarded to all the other members. You can also message everyone at once from the group's page.

You choose who can post: everyone, or group admins only. You can also have each forwarded text show the sender's name.

Create a group

  1. Open Groups and click New group.
  2. Give the group a name.
  3. Choose the number the group will use.
  4. Choose who can post and whether to add the sender's name to forwarded texts.
  5. Click Create.

Add and remove members

Open a group to manage its members:

  • To add someone, enter their name and phone number and click Add. You can mark a member as a group admin.
  • To remove or edit someone, use the controls next to their name.

A group can have up to 200 members.

One group per number

A person can be in only one group per number. If you need the same people in more than one group, use a different number for each group.

Get a dedicated number for a group

Because each group needs its own dedicated number, contact support to request one if you don't already have a spare number to use.

Still stuck? Contact support and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
